Transparent Faith

Click here to view Sunday’s message Have you ever been given a nickname that just stuck with you? A meeting with Jesus after his resurrection left Thomas, one of Jesus’ disciples, with a nickname that many of us can call to mind without hesitation: doubting Thomas. But is doubt really what Thomas should be known for? Having witnessed Jesus’ death with his own eyes, it’s no wonder that Thomas had a hard time just believing the news of Jesus’ resurrection. He was crushed to see his teacher and messiah seemingly defeated. That was his reality. If we can see […]

Sorrow to Joy

Missed last week’s message? Click here to watch. In the sermon this past week, our Ministry Director Marcia Partin talked about Jesus’ encounter with Mary Magdalene after the resurrection.  She spent some time talking about how Mary might have felt in the moments right before her Jesus encounter. In the past, Jesus had cast out seven demons out of Mary.  Her old life was transformed, she left it behind and followed him. Mary traveled with Jesus as he taught and performed miracles — we can be certain that she did not think that later she would be watching him […]

Together with God

Missed last week’s message? Click here to watch. He is Risen! Yes, He is Risen indeed!  Jesus defeated death and rose with all power in his hands! Seriously, take a moment and let that sink in!  The disciples were not expecting it, their faith was crushed!  No one could even image that anyone could come back after witnessing the brutal crucifixion that Jesus went though.  In fact, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome, rose early headed to the tomb.  These women were not expecting to encounter a living savior but to mourn the loss of a […]

Church-wide Fast

Our staff at LCAH is inviting everyone in our church community to join us in a fast from sunrise to sunset on Saturday, April 11th. We will be fasting from food and intentionally withdrawing from social media and other forms online content as much as possible. Fasting is a way of worshiping God that creates a hunger and thirst in us for the bread of life that is Jesus’ presence and power in our lives. We see this fast as an opportunity to offer our full attention to God in expectation of hearing from Him in a fresh way. […]

Together We Serve

“So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well” (Matthew 6:25). This passage is a good one for us to dwell on in current times. Crises, both personal and widespread, have a way of getting us to worry about ourselves, like what we will eat, what we will drink, or what we will […]

Easter Week Daily Devotions

The week leading up to Easter offers an opportunity to intentionally put ourselves in positions to experience God’s presence and encounter God’s truth. We encourage you to join us in taking a special journey together through the story of Jesus’ final days on earth, pausing to wonder together each day at the depths of his love for us and to hear afresh how this story challenges us to live Christ-like lives in the world.   We’ll be posting daily on LCAH social media accounts. You can also download the full guide here. Click here to download the devotional guide

Solidarity with our Asian and Asian-American Brothers and Sisters

“But God has put the body together, giving greater honor to the parts that lacked it, 25 so that there should be no division in the body, but that its parts should have equal concern for each other. 26 If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it” (1 Corinthians 12:24-26). Mutual concern and solidarity with brothers and sisters in Jesus was foundational to the formation of the church. And while Christians have lived this out in many ways, we ought to grieve that Christians have often failed to […]

Love Holds Us Together

Love Holds Us Together INTRODUCTION These can be challenging times both for us an individual but also our relationships as well. We are adjusting to new realities when it comes to relating with our friends and family. Some of us are keeping it together really well while others are struggling with the new norm. No matter where we are, God can meet our needs and give us peace and guidance. One area where he is challenging us is the area of love. As 1 Peter 4:8 encourages us, we need to love each other deeply and urgently during this […]

Psalm 42

Hope Holds Us Together INTRODUCTION Some days, it feels like life is unraveling. The impact and disruption of Coronavirus seems to increase every passing hour. Many of us are already experiencing the loneliness of physical distancing, feeling the financial sting of work closures and facing fear and anxiety as we hear about the scarcity of hospital supplies and increasing number of those who are infected.  How do we keep it together when we feel like we are about to lose it? Imagine writing a line like this: “My tears have been my food day and night, while people say […]

Finding Hope in Times of Uncertainty

Finding Hope in Times of Uncertainty INTRODUCTION Without question, we are facing a moment of uncertainty. The coronavirus pandemic has the world on edge and has disrupted our normal way of life. You may be experiencing concerns and worries in this very moment. You may be thinking that on top of all that you’ve been personally dealing with, now this! In a song entitled, “I’m Gonna Make It After All”, the gospel artist Rance Allen penned lyrics to this effect, I don’t know what the future holds, but I know who holds the future. And, He who holds the […]
